Marion Sandlin, PLS

Corporate Secretary | Survey Project Manager

Marion first joined CESI in 1983 and, after a brief period operating his own business, returned in 1995. With more than 48 years of experience, he is a highly respected leader within the firm and a trusted mentor to many members of the surveying team.

He has extensive experience in boundary, topographic, subdivision, route, as-built, and construction surveys, with a particular specialization in construction surveying. Marion manages many of CESI’s construction surveying projects and is known for his technical expertise, reliability, and commitment to quality.

He has been an active member of the North Carolina Society of Surveyors (NCSS) since 1983, serving on numerous committees and as Past President. In recognition of his contributions to the profession, he was named NCSS Surveyor of the Year in 2015.

Mr. Sandlin is a licensed Professional Land Surveyor in North and South Carolina.

Jane Conversano

Marketing Coordinator

As CESI’s Marketing Coordinator, Jane plays a key role in supporting business development through strategic marketing initiatives, proposal management, and client outreach. She leads the development of Statements of Qualifications, manages the company’s social media presence, and creates targeted content that strengthens CESI’s brand across the AEC industry.

Jane collaborates closely with company leadership and project managers to produce tailored marketing materials that highlight CESI’s capabilities and drive engagement throughout the Southeast. Her efforts contribute directly to expanding client relationships and increasing visibility in competitive markets.

She brings a diverse professional background, having held leadership roles including Communications Director, Creative Services Director, Advertising Agency Creative Director, Art Director, and Marketing Director. Her experience spans multiple industries, including television, advertising, manufacturing, hospitality, and graphic display companies.

Liz Warlick, PE

Vice President of Engineering

As Vice President of Engineering, Liz provides leadership and oversight for CESI’s engineering operations, directing projects across multiple disciplines and supporting overall business strategy. Her responsibilities include project management, client relations, operational oversight, and staff development, ensuring successful project delivery and continued team growth.

Liz brings extensive experience in both public and private sector projects, including residential, commercial, industrial, and educational developments. Her background includes site design, stormwater control inspection and maintenance, and environmental engineering, along with experience in structural design. She has worked on numerous K-12 and higher education projects, as well as complex development initiatives throughout North Carolina.

She holds a Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering Technology from the University of North Carolina at Charlotte and is a licensed Professional Engineer in North Carolina.

Luke Parks

Corporate Treasurer | CMT Operations Manager

Luke joined CESI in 2007 and quickly advanced within the Surveying Division before transitioning to the Geotechnical Division to support construction materials testing (CMT). As CMT Field Operations Manager, he leads the firm’s construction testing and inspection services and serves as a primary client contact.

He manages a team of inspectors and technicians, ensuring projects are executed efficiently and remain on schedule. Known for his responsiveness and attention to detail, Mr. Parks consistently delivers high-quality service across projects of varying size and complexity. His team is recognized for meeting demanding deadlines while maintaining a strong focus on accuracy and client satisfaction.

Angelica Deaton, CPA

Controller

Angelica joined CESI in 2024 as Controller and is responsible for overseeing the firm’s financial operations, including accounting, financial reporting, cash flow management, and employee benefits administration. As a member of the leadership team, she plays a key role in guiding financial strategy and supporting the company’s long-term stability and growth.

With over 20 years of experience in corporate finance and public accounting, Angelica brings a strong background in auditing, tax accounting, and financial management across a range of industries. Her expertise ensures accurate reporting and effective financial oversight for the organization.

She is a Certified Public Accountant (CPA) and holds a Bachelor of Business Administration with a concentration in Accounting from Florida Atlantic University.

David Haywood, PLS

Executive Vice President | Vice President of Surveying

David Haywood is Executive Vice President and Vice President of Surveying at CESI, providing leadership for the firm’s surveying services and business initiatives. A licensed Professional Land Surveyor, he oversees CESI’s surveying and technical operations on complex, multi‑disciplinary projects. David is known for clear communication, practical execution, and encouraging the smart use of technology to deliver dependable, cost-effective results for clients.

Jay Eaves, PE

President

As President of CESI, Jay leads the firm’s overall operations, overseeing a staff of more than 50 professional and technical personnel. He is responsible for corporate management, client relationships, employee engagement, and business development, guiding the company’s continued growth and success.

In addition to his executive role, Jay manages CESI’s Geotechnical Division, overseeing environmental due diligence, geotechnical engineering, and construction materials testing services. His experience spans residential, commercial, municipal, institutional, and industrial projects, including geotechnical investigations, environmental assessments, foundation evaluations, and construction testing of soils, concrete, asphalt, and structural components.

Jay earned a Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering from North Carolina State University and is a licensed Professional Engineer in North and South Carolina.

Jim Craddock, PLS

President

As President of CESI, Jim oversees the activities of 50 professional and technical personnel. He joined CESI in 1986, and today he is responsible for leading the firm and focusing on corporate operation, client relationships, employee engagement and business development.

Jim is a Professional Land Surveyor in 5 eastern states and brings over 45 years of experience to our team. He has been elected by the membership of the North Carolina Society of Surveyors (NCSS) as our state’s delegate to the National Society of Professional Surveyors (NSPS). He is an active member of Cabarrus Rotary and has served on the Cabarrus Regional Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors.
