Client: NCRR – 2012-2016
Originally chartered in 1849 as a 223 mile long economic development effort connecting Charlotte and Goldsboro, the North Carolina Railroad has become the rail backbone of our state, now stretching 317 miles from Charlotte to the state port at Morehead City. This vital economic asset allows large rail carriers such as CSX, Norfolk Southern, and dozens of short-line carriers to connect the farms and businesses of North Carolina with regional, national, and international markets in a cost effective manner. In 2012 the Board of Directors of NCRR began a multi-phase project to monument the outside edges of the 200’ wide right-of-way as part of its stewardship of this quasi-public asset. CESI was selected through a qualifications based process to provide surveying, monumenting, and mapping services for Phase I in Carteret and Craven counties. CESI was selected again in 2016 for the same services for Phase 7 in Cabarrus and Mecklenburg counties.
