SOUTH CAROLINA COUNTY LINES

Client: South Carolina Geodetic Survey

CESI worked with South Carolina Geodetic Survey to assist counties in clarifying the locations of county boundaries throughout the state.  There are approximately 1250 miles of county boundaries in SC.  Historical research and documentation is required including SC Archives, SCDOT, County Register of Deeds and Ranger Stations. Field verification of the recorded historical deeds and registered surveys were used as evidence of the historical location of the county boundaries.  Field work was comprised of GPS and conventional surveys to establish geographic positions on the boundary corners and other field evidence that has been determined by research to be pertinent to the re-establishment of the lines.
