Weathers Creek High School

CESI performed a boundary and topographic survey of the proposed Weathers Creek High School on a 106-acre campus for Iredell County Schools. The survey was used to assist with the civil design efforts, which included a full right of way survey along Overcash Rd with underground utilities marked and located throughout the site.

CESI’s geotechnical team provided preliminary test pit evaluation and secondary soil test boring evaluation of the site. The findings and recommendations of the geotechnical report aided the civil and structural teams in site and structural design.

CESI also served as the Civil Engineer of Record for the design of the new high school facility. Our work included:

Site layout (included a dimension and spatial layout of the site components).

• Site grading, storm drainage, and storm water control measures as required by AHJ.
• Erosion control plans
• Wet utilities (domestic and fire water lines, sanitary sewer, and primary irrigation feed line)
• Manual specifications
• Coordination with landscape architect on hardscape, turf fields, site materials and furnishings, irrigation, and site signage)
• Coordination with MEP on site lighting, power, and other dry utilities. Coordination with bleacher selection and providing layout of the selected bleachers.
• Provided alignment of the pedestrian bridge, design of foundations and bridge by others.
• Provided representation and permitting associated with the conditional zoning approval process.
• Design of two stream crossings and a non-impact pedestrian bridge.

CESI also provided construction staking services and a sewer easement on this project.

The state-of-the-art high school features a two-level, 236,000-square-foot educational building to accommodate 1,600 students. Key site amenities include a new stadium with a turf field and track, two turf practice fields, baseball and softball fields, and eight tennis courts. Additional auxiliary structures include a field house, concessions, ticket booth, restroom facilities, a guard shack, and equipment storage.
