Cabarrus County Emergency Equipment Warehouse and ITS Facility
CESI provided preliminary geotechnical engineering evaluation services for the new Cabarrus County Emergency Equipment Warehouse and ITS Facility. The purpose of the evaluation was to determine the presence of suitable and unsuitable soils and evaluate the site for near-surface rock.
CESI also contracted with Cabarrus County to perform engineering observation, construction materials testing, and special inspection services during the construction process and generally includes the following:
- Subgrade evaluations prior to structural fill, base course stone, asphalt, and concrete placement.
- Bearing grade evaluations for building foundations.
- Field density testing of compacted structural fill and utility trench backfill.
- Reinforcing steel inspections and sampling and testing of concrete for foundations and slabs-on-grade.
- Reinforcing steel inspections and sampling and grout testing for structural CMU wall construction.
- Inspection of structural steel bolted and welded connections.
