New Cabarrus County Courthouse
The new courthouse is 312,000 square feet and includes new construction, renovations, and additions.
The design includes:
- A public entry space that connects Church Street and Union Street.
- A pedestrian plaza on Means Avenue.
- A new courthouse plaza to help revitalize the urban area .
The project also includes renovations to the existing courthouse, which was built over 45 years ago. The new courthouse responds to the county’s growing population and increasing court caseload.
CESI provided a highly detailed boundary and topographic survey of the courthouse block. The survey included the full right of way of Union St, Cabarrus Ave, Means Ave, and Church St. Underground utilities and tunnels were marked and located. Hard surface structures were located on a 10’ grid. Phase I Environmental Site Assessment, and geotechnical engineering evaluation services were also performed on this project.
