Pfeiffer University – Center for Health Sciences

CESI was contracted by Pfeiffer University and other partners to provide multiple services for the newly constructed, state-of-the-art Center for Health Sciences. Prior to land acquisition, CESI performed Phase 1, Phase 2 and USDA required environmental services for the site.

Once cleared for development, our geotechnical team performed a subsurface engineering evaluation of the site to substantiate that the urban soils could support the proposed high column load, four-story facility with conventional foundations. Designers utilized the information acquired during the geotechnical phase to finalize the structural and architectural aspects of the project.

During construction, CESI provided testing and special inspection services on behalf of Pfeiffer University comprising of:

• Foundation-bearing capacity verification.
• Reinforced concrete special inspections and testing.
• Structural steel bolted and welded connection testing.
• Ultrasonic testing of steel welding.
• Spray-applied fireproofing sampling and testing.
• Laboratory testing of composite concrete cylinders.
• Nuclear density testing of mass fill and utility trench backfill materials.
• Site retaining wall inspections and testing.
